Literacies and Communication for Adults with Learning Disabilities

Have Your SayThe Adult Learning Team offer a range of classes which support learners with a learning disability.  The level of support given is in accordance with the needs of the individual.  Learners may join a mixed ability literacies class or a class with an emphasis on supporting more complex literacies needs.

Keywords and Symbols, for example, supports learners in basic letter and word recognition with the aim of developing skills and increasing vocabulary.  The Have Your Say group offers learners the opportunity to express themselves using a variety of media.  The group make good use of art and drama as another means of communication.  A drama performance is held each year and the group's artwork can be seen at the Cowane Centre and Stirling Council's offices at Viewforth.

We also offer Extra Support Literacies/Computing to develop ICT skills whilst working on literacies projects.

All learners have the opportunity of completing modules for the Towards Independence ASDAN award.
