Ancestry resource at libraries
A free online service helping people trace family history has been officially launched at Stirling’s Central Library.
Ancestry Library Edition is a research tool offering comprehensive genealogical information, with more than 13 billion records including census data, immigration information, photos, maps and much more across 8000 databases.
Access to Ancestry is now offered FREE from all public computers in Stirling Council libraries as a useful tool for anyone interested in general historical research, as well as those hoping to trace their personal roots.
Sandra Reid of Central Scotland Family History Society, said: “The access to Ancestry Library Edition now offered by Stirling Libraries will be a wonderful extra resource for newcomers to family history, who attend our society's monthly drop-in sessions at St Ninian's Library, as well as for the society's own members.
“It is user friendly, well-indexed and personally has helped me knock down a number of brick walls which genealogists always come up against.”
