Population estimates released by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) show Stirling's population at 30th June 2016 was estimated at 93,750, representing a significant (1%) increase on the 2015 estimate of 92,830. This is the 5th largest percentage increase of all Scotland’s 32 council areas.
The “natural” population dropped with 830 births and 915 deaths. However there was an estimated net migration of 1,012 people into the Stirling Council area. The 1% increase in Stirling was behind City of Edinburgh (1.7%), Glasgow City (1.4%), Midlothian (1.4%), and East Lothian (1%). Seven Council areas experienced a decrease in population.
