Flood Risk Management Plan

Forth Local Flood Risk Management Plan

The Forth Flood Fisk Management Plan has been developed as a means to implement the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009 in which we are striving to reduce the risk of flooding and better manage the impacts of flooding across the Forth Local Plan District.  Sitting above the plan is an overarching Strategy Document developed by SEPA in consultation with Responsible Authorities.

The Plan

The Plan is the culmination of several years of collaborative work between Stirling, Clackmannan, Perth and Kinross, Falkirk and Fife Councils, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, SEPA and Scottish Water.

The plan outlines the key areas of risk, the key sources of flooding, the impacts flooding has on people, infrastructure and the environmentand sets out actions to address the problems. Areas of highest risk are split into catchments 1 – 12 known as Potentially Vulnerable Areas.

Potentially Vulnerable Areas

Within each Potentially Vulnerable Area there are lists of specific actions such as flood studies or schemes to be taken forward in a set location during the lifetime of the plan.

Information on who will fund these actions and when they will be undertaken is given alongside each action. There are also non-specific actions such as awareness raising which apply not only within target areas but to the whole of the Forth Local Plan District.

Other Flood Risk Management Plans

Each lead local authority published a local flood risk management plan on 22 June 2016. These local plans supplement, and are consistent with, SEPA's strategy but set out the proposed local coordination arrangements for the selected actions, as well as how they will be programmed and funded.  You can view the Local Flood Risk Management Plans Stirling are involved with below:
