Experiences for pupils outside the classroom.
There are many types of experiences that can be undertaken:
- Cultural visits
- Learning applied in an outdoor environment
- Outdoor activities
- Environmental projects
- National awards such as ASDAN
- John Muir or Duke of Edinburgh Award
- Residential excursions at home and abroad.
Schools are encouraged to examine the the opportunities they provide, as well as seeking to match it to the needs of the individual pupils.
The Excursion Policy details the procedures that must be adopted in the management and organisation of excursions to both enhance the educational quality and to minimise any associated risks.
Approval of excursions requires judgement on skills, experience and competence. It is the role of the Headteacher to make the final decision on whether an excursion proceeds.
