Library loans - renewing and extending
The standard loan period for books is three weeks. If you wish an extended loan (e.g if you are going away on holiday), or want to renew a loan (e.g. if you haven't finished with your book), we are happy to do this, as long as the book has not been requested by another reader or library service.
If the book has been requested by another reader, but you haven't finished reading it, we will place a new request on the title so that the book will return to you as soon as possible.
If you want to use the online renewal facility, you will need a PIN number, as well as the barcode number from the back of your library card to create and access your account. You can collect your PIN number when you visit a library, or your PIN can be posted or emailed to you. For security reasons, we cannot give out details of PINs over the phone.
You can renew the loan on your items in a variety of ways:
- Take your items into a library to have them re-stamped
- Phone your local library to have your loan extended
- Extend and renew loans online via your library account
