Additional support needs - placement in mainstream schools

Most children and young people with additional support needs are supported in their local mainstream school, however for a small number of children a specialist provision is more appropriate.

There are various special education establishments and provisions available:

Autism facilities:  Riverside Primary, Callander Primary and St Modans High Schools all have additional provisions for children with autism. Support can be provided within the classroom or in a teaching base, depending on the individual needs of the children.

Extended Learning Support:  Fallin Primary and Riverside Primary have provision for children who require significant support for their learning. Support can be provided within the classroom or in a teaching base, depending on the individual needs of the children.

Enhanced Support for Learning:  All secondary schools have provision for children who require additional support.

Ochil House, based at Wallace High School, has provision for secondary aged children who have severe and complex additional needs, require significant support for their learning and a high level of co-ordination from other agencies.

Castleview School is for children of primary school age with a range of needs who require significant support for their learning and a high level of co-ordination from other agencies.

The Social, Emotional and Behaviour Needs Support Service (SEBN) supports children and  young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties across all schools. This can be within the child's own school or at the primary or secondary support bases.

The Additional Support Needs Outreach Service (ASN) ensures early intervention and support for children and young people, aged 0-18years with additional support needs.
