About the school
The school has been sited in its present location since 1873. However, the part, which is now solely used as our school, was only built in 1959/60 as a Junior Secondary School for the area. The secondary department closed in 1969.
Some classrooms are now occupied by the Public Library and the Pre Five/Out of School Care Nursery. The facilities for the school are four classrooms, a well-appointed gymnasium, school kitchen and dining area. We are well provided for with modern technology, with internet access and resources that meet the needs of the developing curriculum.
Education Scotland has responsibility for evaluating the quality of pre-school education, all schools, teacher education, community learning and development, further education and local authorities. They also publish reports about services for children and evaluate child protection services.
Each school has it own geographic area called a catchment area. Normally, your child will attend your local catchment school. If you wish your child to attend a school other than the catchment school you are required to make a placing request.
