About the school
The school has been situated in its present location since 1873. However, the part, which is now solely used as our school, was only built in 1959/60 as a Junior Secondary School for the area. The secondary department closed in1969.
The facilities for the school are three classrooms, a well-appointed gymnasium, a nurture room, a library, school kitchen and dining area. There are also numerous store cupboards. There is a playground with a mixture of grass and tarmac. There is also a climbing frame. The school benefits from a small but delightful environmental area with a pond which often has nesting ducks as well as toads!
Education Scotland has responsibility for evaluating the quality of pre-school education, all schools, teacher education, community learning and development, further education and local authorities. They also publish reports about services for children and evaluate child protection services.
Each school has it own geographic area called a catchment area. Normally, your child will attend your local catchment school. If you wish your child to attend a school other than the catchment school you are required to make a placing request.
