Nursery school places
To enrol your child into a pre-school nursery contact the nursery directly and ask for an application form. Although we accept application forms throughout the academic year, we would advise parents for the August 2013 intake, to have their completed application forms with establishments by the beginning of March of that same year.
It's a good idea to visit the nursery, have look around and chat to staff. Priority is given to children living in the Stirling Council area for a nursery place.
We allocate places as straightforwardly as possible. All children in their pre-school year and all 3 year olds in the term following their third birthday, are guaranteed a place within either a council nursery or within a partner service nursery or playgroup. We cannot always guarantee a place within a parent's or carer's first choice establishment, therefore applications are allocated using a points system which takes account of both children's needs and family circumstances. Parents must note on the application form a 2nd and 3rd choice of establishment.
All partner service nurseries and playgroups allocate places in accordance with the council's admissions policy. Free entitlement to nursery provision for 3 and 4 year old children is currently 12½ hours per week.
