Schools - additional support needs
The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 was amended in 2009. The 2009 Act strengthens the duties placed on Stirling Council Education to identify and meet the additional support needs of children and young people. We continue to do this through the Staged Intervention process The Act also strengthens the rights of parents, carers and young people.
Operated by Children in Scotland, Enquire offers independent, confidential advice and information on additional support for learning through an e-mail enquiry service and a telephone helpline - 0845 123230.
Enquire also provide a range of clear and easy to read guides and factsheets explaining everything from ‘additional support in the early years’ to ‘what planning should take place for moving on from school’.
Get all the latest Enquire news by viewing the monthly newsletter.
We are committed to working in partnership with all parents and carers of children and young people with additional support needs and seeking their views on all aspects of the support provided in educational establishments. We encourage parents to contact the school/establishment in the first instance if there are any queries or concerns, and we will always try to resolve any difficulties as soon as possible.
Further information on how support for learning is organised in Stirling is available by contacting either the school, or the ASN team at Viewforth, telephone 01786 233212.
