It is important to note that the headteacher of a school is responsible for any content hosted on a school website.

Schools have several options available to them:

• create the website and host this on the council in house webserver using the registered domain name provided free from Scottish Executive, e.g. www.myschool.stirling.sch.uk. If this domain name isused the website can only be updated from within the school at a designated computer. There is no cost to the school when using this option

• create the website using free web space directly through an internet browser. You would not be able to use the registered school domain name

• pay a company to design and host the school website. You would not be able to use the registered school domain name.
