Council housing - improvement strategy

Housing Standards

The Scottish Housing Quality Standard sets out the standards that all homes in the social rented sector are expected to meet by 2015.

To meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard, a dwelling must be compliant with the tolerable standard:-

  • free from serious disrepair
  • energy efficient
  • provided with modern facilities and services
  • healthy, safe and secure

Stirling Council also has a Local Housing Strategy which will look at issues such as

  • housing needs,
  • house condition including energy efficiency and fuel poverty,
  • sustainable communities,
  • homelessness and particular housing needs.

The local housing strategy covers the next 5 years.
