Equality - Disability Equality Scheme
The Council has a legal duty to have a Disability Equality Scheme confirming its commitment to disability equality. The Council must monitor and report annually on the progress it has made in delivering the Scheme and review revise and update it Scheme every three years.
Our first Disability Equality Scheme covered the period 2007 – 09. A review of that scheme and a summary of what was achieved during its lifetime were considered by Stirling Council on 12th December 2009.
Disability Equality Scheme 2010 - 12
Our Disability Equality Scheme for 2010 - 12 was agreed by Stirling Council on 10th December 2009. Building on what we have achieved to date, this shows how we will continue to promote disability equality and challenge discrimination when recruiting and employing people, delivering services directly to our customers and when working with contractors and partner organisations to do this.
Disability Equality Scheme 2010 - 12 Action Plan
This identifies actions the Council will take to promote disability equality and tackle discrimination. These are presented under seven priority themes: Leadership, Community Participation, Information and Knowledge, Access to Services, Buying Goods and Services, Employment and Monitoring and Reporting. The underlying purpose of each priority theme, the outcomes the Council wishes to see achieved and supporting actions are listed for each theme. Timescales and responsibility for delivering these are also provided.
Disability Equality Scheme 2010 - 12 Education Action Plan
This confirms the actions the Council will take as Education Authority to promote disability equality and tackle discrimination. This adopts the same themes, objectives and outcomes used in the wider Action Plan above.
Disability Equality Scheme 2007 - 09 Summary of Progress
This confirms the progress achieved in delivering the Council’s first disability equality scheme and identifies where additional and continued effort is required.
