Equality - gender

The Council has a legal duty to have a Gender Equality Scheme confirming its commitment to gender equality and to preventing unlawful discrimination on the grounds of an individual’s gender, gender identity or sexual orientation. The Council must monitor and report annually on the progress it has made in delivering the Scheme and review, revise and update the Scheme every three years.

Gender Equality Scheme 2010 - 13

Council agreed our second and current Gender Equality Scheme on 24th June 2010. Building on what we have achieved to date, this shows how we will continue to promote gender equality and challenge discrimination when recruiting and employing people, delivering services directly to our customers or and when working with contractors and partner organisations to do this.

Gender  Equality Scheme 2010 - 13 Action Plan

This identifies actions the Council will take to promote gender equality and tackle discrimination. These are presented under eight priority themes: Leadership, Community Participation, Information and Knowledge, Access to Services, Buying Goods and Services, Employment, Equal Pay and Monitoring and Reporting. The underlying purpose of each priority theme, the outcomes the Council wishes to see achieved and supporting actions are listed for each theme. Timescales and responsibility for delivering these are also provided.

Gender Equality Scheme 2010 - 13 Education Action Plan

This confirms the actions the Council will take as Education Authority to promote gender equality and tackle discrimination. This adopts the same themes, objectives and outcomes used in the wider Action Plan above.

Gender Equality Scheme 2007-10 Summary of progress

This confirms the progress achieved in delivering the Council’s first Gender Equality Scheme and identifies where additional and continued effort is required.

Equal Pay Policy Statement

The Equal Pay Policy Statement is required as part of the Council’s Gender Equality Scheme. Stirling Council implemented Single Status terms and conditions and job evaluation in February 2009 in order to ensure equality in respect of pay and terms and conditions for all its affected employees. We are in the process of concluding the job evaluation appeals and hope to have completed this work in the current financial year.
