Gender - consultation draft

Stirling Council is preparing its second Gender Equality Scheme. This confirms the actions it will take to continue to promote gender equality and prevent and tackle gender discrimination in the Stirling Council area. The scheme considers the Councils responsibilities for delivering services and as an employer. It highlights the importance the Council attaches to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity for all people regardless of their gender, gender identity or sexual orientation

Preparation of the Draft Gender Equality Scheme (GES) has taken account of the following: -

  • progress achieved in delivering our current  Gender Equality Scheme
  • activity we must continue with to continue to meet our legal obligations  
  • areas for potential improvement including comment received from service users where available

The Draft scheme confirms the Council’s underlying objectives in terms of gender equality, the outcomes it seeks to achieve and the associated actions it proposes. These are listed in two complementary Draft Action Plans which we would welcome your comments on

The Scheme’s proposed underlying objectives, desired outcomes and proposed actions are confirmed in both Draft Action Plan under the following themes: -

Leadership, Community Participation, Information and Knowledge, Access to Services, Buying Goods and Services, Employment, Equal Pay and Monitoring and Reporting

We would welcome your comments on the Draft Action Plans. These should be submitted by 14 May 2010 to GES@stirling.gov.uk
