Equality - Race Equality Scheme

The Council has a legal duty to have a Race Equality Scheme confirming its commitment to racial equality. The Council must monitor and report annually on the progress it has made in delivering the Scheme and review, revise and update the Scheme every three years.

Our second Race Equality Scheme covered the period 2006 – 08.  A review of that scheme and a summary of what was achieved during its lifetime were considered by Council on 11th December 2008.

Race Equality Scheme 2008 -11

Council agreed our third and current Race Equality Scheme on 11th December 2008. Building on what we have achieved to date, this shows how we will continue to promote race equality and challenge discrimination when recruiting and employing people, delivering services directly to our customers or and when working with contractors and partner organisations to do this.
