Law and licensing

Licensing deal with a wide range of licences including for alcohol, taxi drivers, taxi vehicles, street traders.

Trading Standards enforces a range of legislation to maintain a fair trading environment for consumers and traders in the Stirling Council area.

Things we do:

• Enforce criminal legislation by making routine inspection visits, monitoring advertisements and carrying out investigations.
• Provide advice on related civil law matters to both consumers and traders in the Stirling Council area.
• Provide guidance on Consumer and Business Advice
• Provide talks and training sessions on a range of Trading Standards topics to businesses, community organisations, schools, etc.
• Liaise with other agencies, such as the Office of Fair Trading, to whom we supply information about unfair trading practices.
