  • Psocids (Booklice), also sometimes called barklice, are small insects belonging to the insect order Psocoptera.
  • most species are free-living and are not pests
  • prefer warm conditions, especially kitchens
  • are commonly found in flour
  • pale yellow in colour and wingless

  • wash down shelves and thoughly dry the shelf and surrounding area removing all moisture
  • discard affected food
  • we usually do not treat as such - just provide advice
  • keep foodstuffs away from kettles and microwaves etc as these can intensify the humidity
