High Court of Justiciary

The High Court of Justiciary is Scotland's supreme criminal court and serves as both a court of the first instance and a court of appeal.  As a court of the first instance, the High Court of Justiciary deals with the most serious of crimes.  As a court of appeal, the High Court of Justiciary will sit only in Edinburgh and can hear appeals from other Courts, such as High Courts and Sheriff Courts.
