Beauly - Denny power line meetings
The Beauly – Denny 400kv Power Line
Scottish Ministers have given approval under the Electricity Act for the installation of a 400kv overhead electricity transmission line from Beauly to Denny.
Around 22kms of the line will be within the Stirling Council area, passing through the east of the district from north of Dunblane to south of Plean.
Scottish Ministers have imposed a number of conditions
on the Consent which the Council will be consulted on and, in some cases, will be required to approve, to enable the transmission line to be constructed.
Information on the applications, the environmental statement, the Report of the Public Inquiry and the Ministers decision can all be found on the Scottish Government’s website.
Scottish and Southern Energy/Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Limited (SSE/SHETL) are the developers of the northern section of line to the east of Dunblane, with Scottish Power Transmission Ltd (SPT) developing the southern section of the line to the south west of Plean.
Documentation, including the route of the powerline for the SSE section of the powerline can be found in the SSE website.
Stirling Council has considered a Report on the decision of Scottish Ministers to approve the Beauly Denny power line in March 2010. The Report can be viewed on the Stirling Council website
In response to the Scottish Ministers decision to approve the Beauly to Denny Powerline, the Council took a decision on 11 March to establish a Steering Group comprising four elected members, one from each political party, and to invite three members of the public to assist in the consideration of mitigation measures and construction related matters, as the power line project is developed. The Steering Group will oversee consultations with the communities, interest groups, key stakeholders, the power companies and Scottish Ministers. The Steering Group will consider matters of visual intrusion, health, community and environmental impacts of the proposed power line.
