Scotland's Climate Change Declaration
Between January and April 2007 all 32 Scottish local authorities signed Scotland’s Climate Change Declaration. Signatories to the Declaration acknowledge the reality and importance of climate change and commit to both reducing their impact by cutting greenhouse gas emissions while also taking steps to adapt to the unavoidable impacts of a changing climate. Signatories also commit to produce an Annual Statement that details their progress in mitigating, and adapting to, climate change. These Annual Statements are currently being used to assess compliance with the public sector climate change duties.
