Childcare - alternative, respite and shared care
Our Children with Disabilities team work with children who have profound and enduring disabilities. Under section 23 of the Children (Scotland) Act 1995, we have a duty to provide an assessment on the childs disabilities and family circumstances.
There are several ways in which support can be offered:
- support within the home
- residential respite
- family-based respite for children offered by foster families
We work closely with Health and Education professionals as well as the voluntary sector, to provide appropriate and safe care for children and their families.
Hospice provision
We can also advise and guide families to hospice provisions that are available to children with life limiting illnesses.
