Fostering, adopting and looked after children

Adoption

Who can fosterOur adoption service aims to meet the needs of children who are in need of permanent new homes.  Most children who need to be adopting are aged between 2-5 years and may have siblings.

Kinship care

Kinship care is when a child or young person is placed with family, or extended family, members or someone who has a pre-existing relationship, such as relatives or a family friend.

Fostering

A child or young person may, for a variety of reasons, require temporary accommodation, varying from a few weeks to years. In such circumstances, a child or young person may stay with a foster carer.  For further information, including information about how to apply to be a foster carer, please see fostering

Residential accommodation for young people

We offer residential accommodation for young people aged between 12 and 20 years of age who need it under the auspices for the Children's (Scotland) Act 1995.

Support Young people in care

Every child in care will have an allocated social worker who will provide information about the support available to them, whilst in care and once leaving care.
