Respite care for adult carers
We can provide a range of respite options, to enable carers to have a short break from their caring responsibilities. Respite care can be arranged for:
Emergency respite
Emergency respite can be requested when a carer is unexpectedly unable to continue providing care for the person they care for
Planned respite
Planned respite can be requested for a one-off period when carers are seeking a break from their caring responsibilities.
How to request respite
Prior to receiving respite, an assessment is required to ensure that respite meets the needs of the person you care for.
For planned respite, please see our pages on care assessment. If the assessment identifies that several planned respites are required over a year, several planned respite periods may be identified, often referred to as rolling respite. In such circumstances, we will endeavour to arrange respite through the same respite provider as previous respite breaks.
