Social work - out of hours support

Central Scotland Emergency Social Work Service

What is emergency social work?

It is a Stirling Council led service, funded jointly by Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Falkirk Councils offering an outwith office hours service to those three council areas. It is also known as the emergency duty team or EDT.

When do they work?

Outwith the usual 9am - 5pm office hours, weekends and public holidays. If your local social work office is closed, we are working.

What do we do?

The difference between out of hours and the local social work service is that we only deal with emergencies. If your difficulty cannot wait until the office covering your area, is open, we can work with you to sort it out.

Who are we?

We are a dedicated team of social workers specifically trained to respond to emergency situations. At any one time two of the team are working to provide a service across the three councils.

Who do we work with?

We work with all the people who use the social work service including children and families, adult services, criminal justice service and community care. As well as working in close partnership with our local office colleagues, we also work in partnership with other services. This includes Police, medical, mental health, homeless, Department of Social Security and residential workers.

What is our aim?

Our aim is to provide a high quality professional emergency social work service.
