Services and advice for older people
We want to help everyone have healthy, active and independent lives. We provide a range of services for older people across the Stirling Council area.
Activities for older people
There are many activities for older people, giving you the chance to socialise with like-minded people or enjoy local cultural experiences, or experience invigorating sport and physical activities.
Bus pass
If you are 60 or over, you may wish to travel around on free public transport. Buses are free to travel on throughout Scotland using your bus pass.
Clubs and organisations
There are also a variety of clubs and organisations who can provide advice, support and information for older people.
Care - assessment of your needs
You may feel that you require additional help or support at home. We want to ensure that we can offer services which meet your needs. In order to receive support, you should contact us so that we can identify your needs through a care assessment.
Direct Payments
If you would prefer to be assessed for care, but wish to control who you employ, and when they will help, Direct Payments may help. We provide you with an agreed amount of money for you to buy your own care and support.
Garden maintenance
If you require assistance with gardening, the garden maintenance service may be able to help.
Adult Support and Protection
Most adults with mental illness, physical or learning disabilities or other special needs manage to live their lives comfortably and securely. However, for a small number, dependence on someone may produce conflict, exploitation or harm. You'll find further information about Adult Support and Protection here.
Keeping warm during winter
In winter, it's important to keep safe and well. We have advice on how to keep warm during winter and useful information on how to keep yourself and your neighbours safe over the winter.
