What you can do for biodiversity
What makes the biodiversity process different from previous nature conservation strategies is that we are looking at the whole landscape, not just the “boxes” of nature reserves or designated nature sites. Whilst these are vital, especially as ‘reservoirs’ of rare species, biodiversity occurs everywhere, not just in the countryside or in a nature reserve.
By changing little things such as how we garden or what we buy, we can make the places where we live more biodiversity friendly. This is just as important as having positive management for biodiversity in the countryside.
