Stirling Libraries subscribe to a number of online services which means that our users can access an up to date, top quality reference collection at the click of a button – as long as you have an internet connection.

To use a resource, click on a link below. You will need your library borrower number (on your library card) and your 4 digit Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Transparent Language Online with Byki

Transparent Language Online with Byki Logo Transparent Language Online with Byki is an online language learning course with a variety of interactive exercises to help users learn. 80 languages are available from Afrikaans to Gaelic and Polish. Library members can login with their barcode and create an account easily.

One Click Digital is an online collection of best-selling, classic and award winning audio-titles which can be browsed and downloaded for free. They are compatible with virtually all portable players- including iPods and iPhones and many other devices.

Encyclopaedia Britannica

Encyclopaedia Britannica the world famous encyclopaedia gives library users access to hundreds of thousands of articles, biographies, videos and images. It's content has been selected by Britannica's team of contributors and editorial staff who ensure it is properly researched and edited. As a result Britannica is a reliable and trusted source of information.

Access to Britannica is available in 3 versions:

  • Britannica Encyclopedia Adult Edition LogoBritannica Junior – a special version of the encyclopaedia for the young. This version is great for homework and has a good balance of text and images (readership ages 5-11). Take a guided tour of Junior Britannica.
  • Britannica Encyclopedia Student Edition Logo Britannica Studenta simplified version of Britannica at a reading level appropriate for the developing student. Good for helping with assignments (readership ages 12-18). Take a guided tour of Britannica Student.
  • Britannica Encyclopedia Adult Edition Logo Encyclopaedia Britannica Online – the full version with enhanced online features (readership age 18+). Take a guided tour of Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Go Citizen

Go Citizen Online Resource Logo Go Citizen is for people preparing for the UK Test or British Citizenship Test. It includes an online version of the latest study materials plus hundreds of practice test questions.

KnowUK

KnowUK Logo 2 Libraries KnowUK is an online service developed to provide UK reference information. It is a comprehensive resource which gives access to over 100 reference books including: Whitaker's Almanack, The Educational Grants Directory and Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits Handbook,. KnowUK is fully searchable and cuts out information overload while providing authoritative and current information.

UK Newsstand

UK Newsstand Online Resource Logo UK Newsstand (previously NewsUK) is an online service, which gives access to around 100 national and regional newspapers. Back issue coverage is in places as far back as 1990s. NewsUK is the ideal tool for keeping up-to-date with current affairs, giving you a vast array of articles and authoritative comment at your fingertips. You can email articles to friends or set up a user account and save articles that you may want to go back and review for your research.

Theory Test Pro

heoryTest Pro online resource logo Theory Test Pro is a highly realistic online simulation of the UK's driving theory test. It contains the entire official test question bank, hazard perception video clips and an online version of the Highway Code. All this material is licensed from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), the people who set the tests.

Which? Online
