Litter removal

Dealing with Litter

Stirling Council`s residents have made it clear that they want to put a stop to litter, with litter featuring as a prime concern of the Citizen's Panel.

Our special hit squads of litter pickers & street sweepers operate seven days a week, targeting town centres, neighbourhood centres and main thoroughfares.

The hard work on the ground is backed up by many education and litter campaigns - aimed at winning hearts and minds in the battle against litter. We also carry out enforcement, issuing £50 fixed penalties to ensure the message is clear that dropping litter is against the law, carries a fine and it won`t be tolerated.

Chewing Gum Removal

Chewing gum can be a major problem, especially in the city centre.  Land Services are now using an innovative machine developed by HygieneFirst to combat the problem of dropped chewing gum  The machine uses steam to quickly remove gum from the pavements.

Litter removal can be dependant on whether the Council own or maintain the area. To report litter, please call 0845 277 7000, or complete the on line service request screen, via the internet front page, giving as many details as you can.
