Fruit Overview

The things that community organisations make happen, they way they improve people's lives and circumstances - these are the fruits of their labour. Healthy organisations will have built successful projects and activities through the good connection the organisation has with its roots, the solid nature of its core and the networks and the support it has been able to tap into.

Developing and managing successful projects and activities will also rely on identifying and effectively organising project champions to work together.

Project champions may be volunteers, employees, support workers or specialist expertise brought in to help manage and staff the services, projects and activities that the organisation ends up running.

Not everything a community organisation sets out to do is project based - a key way of seeking change and improvements is often through advocacy and representation - and this involves a whole other set of skills, commitment and patience.
