On average up to £300 a year can be saved on energy bills by taking simple steps to make sure your home is as energy efficient as possible. This may include improving home insulation, draught proofing, cavity wall insulation or water tank insulation; there are many ways to make your home warmer and cut fuels bills.
Soon information packs will be arriving at homes across the Stirling Council area from Energy Saving Scotland Advice Centre to inform residents about the new Energy Assistance Package. The package is designed to assist every householder that is struggling to heat their home and is worried about fuel bills.
The help available ranges from advice on how to cut fuel bills, a benefit check to maximize income and access to the lowest-cost energy tariffs. In addition some residents may be eligible to receive free home insulation and in some cases a new central heating system.
Stirling Council’s Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Housing Councillor Alasdair MacPherson recently visited Gargunnock resident Jane Howie’s home to see the cavity wall insulation being carried out by Powersaver Insulation. Councillor MacPherson said: “In these difficult economic times for families it is more important than ever to make sure our citizens have the help and support needed to keep their homes warm and are still able to cut their energy bills. Tackling fuel poverty and reducing carbon emissions are key priorities of this administration.”
