Fostering

What is Fostering?

Fostering is a way of offering children and young people a home while their own parents are unable to look after them. This is often a temporary arrangement and many foster children return to their own families. The length of time a child may need care can vary from a few weeks to years.

Our first aim is to return the child home and, indeed, the majority of children in temporary foster care do return home. If this does not prove possible, foster carers would continue to care for the child until alternative plans are made e.g. an adoptive or long term fostering placement.

Foster parents receive financial support and ongoing support from social workers.
