This wonderful film explores the relationship of the American folk revival of the 50s and 60s to traditional folk music, the blues, Appalachian and country music, and to the civil rights movement.
It features a host of influential musicians as well as little known performers – Son House, Peter, Paul and Mary, The Southsea Georgian singers, The Osborne Brothers, Howling Wolf, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Mississippi John Hurt and many others.
