Bluegrass may not be the first musical style you associate with Athens, Georgia, maybe the B52’s, definitely R.E.M. but these young musicians from the home of post punk alternative rock came across Americana and never looked back.
The Packway Handle Band are an unlikely bluegrass sensation but their tight three and four part harmonies and energetic performances on the traditional line-up of bluegrass instruments has propelled them from Georgia through the USA to Scotland and a headline appearance at this year’s Celtic Connections.
The band plays traditional bluegrass and gospel but also throw in a few off-the-wall covers including Psycho Killer by Talking Heads.
This is their first visit to Scotland, come along and give them a warm welcome.
