Vital Stirling
Friars Street and Baker Street, Stirling.
‘Vital Stirling’ focuses on improving the public realm in the city centre, making Stirling a great place to live, work, and visit.
Each city centre street has been assessed against a number of economic and environmental criteria and prioritised for improvement over the next 15 years.
Friars Street and Baker Street have many independent retailers and this area forms an important link between the historic old town and the modern city centre.
The Friars Street area will be completed with modern granite materials to match earlier works. Baker Street is a more traditional street and will be constructed using refurbished cobbles and stone slabs.
Work will begin on 11 January 2010 and be completed by end of april.
The images in this document give an impression of the new streetscape. High quality stone will be used to create the new street surface and seating areas.
Stirling, a great place to work, live and visit.
The project will be completed on a phased basis to keep disruptions to a minimum
During this time, it will be business as usual for bars, shops and restaurants:
