Service update: Normal waste and recycling bin collections will restart on 1 June, 2020.  Collections will be made in line with the latest bin calendar, which you can also download. There will be a grey bin collection next week (25-31 May) on normal collection days.

For battery disposals:

You can take your batteries to any one of our Household Recycling Centres at Lower Polmaise, Balfron and Callander. Alternatively, many large retailers and supermarkets provide battery recycling collection facilities where you can drop off your used batteries. Provision should be checked with individual stores.

By recycling the materials you can no longer re-use you are:

  • Saving the Earth's natural resources.
  • Saving energy and reducing the risk of climate change.
  • Reducing the need for landfill.

The 3R's

Recycling is the third of the traditional "3Rs":

  • Reducing
  • Reusing
  • Recycling.

Recycling usually comes into play only after Reducing waste and Reusing materials are no longer options.

Recycled materials are resources that can be used to make new products.
