With the opening of the National Curling Academy last month, we have been expanding Stirling Sports Village as the city’s main base for sport and leisure for both high level performance sport and recreational users.
Over the last few years we have extended and made improvements to the car park at the Sports Village, increasing the number of parking spaces as well as providing improved lighting, drainage, safer access routes for pedestrians and cyclists, parent and child parking and disabled parking.
Now the building work on the National Curling Academy is complete, we are moving into the final phase of the extension and improvements works to the car park.
The work will commence on Monday 18th September and will be completed by mid-November. During this time we will reinstate the area behind the National Curling Academy to provide a further 26 car parking spaces. A permanent service road will also be created to allow access to the rear of the the PEAK to ensure segregation of service and delivery vehicles.
Disruption to the car park will be kept to a minimum during this time, but to facilitate the works we will need to cordon off around 12 spaces.
We will also be putting diversions in place around Forthbank Stadium to allow for construction access and to keep everyone safe. Pedestrians and drivers should observe these diversions and follow the diversionary routes signposted.
Users are reminded to park in designated parking spaces at all times – the car park and Forthside Way are subject to parking enforcement. If the main car park is full, users can park in the overflow spaces which are signposted from within the Sports Village.
Will you let me know about any changes to the work programme?
If for any reason there is a change to the expected completion date or the alternative parking arrangements that will be in place for their duration we will let you know as soon as possible here, through Stirling Council and Active Stirling’s social media accounts and/or via local media.
