Scotia Gas Network is carrying out major works that will affect many locations across Stirling.

Works will begin on Wednesday 3 July 2019 and will last approximately 26 weeks.

SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. SGN also provides the gas emergency service in these areas.

On Wednesday 3 July 2019 SGN will start a £615,000 project to upgrade the gas network in the Maitland Street area of Stirling.

This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

The project will last approximately 26 weeks and will be carried out over four phases to help minimise disruption:

Phase one - approximately 7.5 weeks

  • Bannockburn Road
  • Mayfield Court
  • Polmaise Avenue

Phase two - approximately nine weeks

  • Bannockburn Road, East and West bound

Phase three – approximately eight weeks

  • Cornhill Crescent
  • Bannockhill Road
  • Mayfield Street
  • Drumpark Street

Phase four - approximately eight weeks

  • Maitland Crescent
  • Bannockburn Road
  • Glasgow Road
  • Maitland Crescent
  • McLaren Terrace
  • Robertson Place
  • Polmaise Avenue

SGN and Stirling Council are encouraging residents and visitors to please plan ahead and expect delays during peak periods.

SGN will be working in nearby residential streets and SGN will notify all local residents by letter if work will be carried out in their street.

The new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Stirling residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

Regular updates will be posted on the SGN website to keep residents and motorists informed.
