Stirling will ring in the New Year in spectacular style with two fantastic party events at the iconic Stirling Castle.
Stirling's Hogmanay Celebrations

Following on from last year’s success, the Council is tuning up the band for another exciting evening of entertainment for all the family, featuring some of the best up-and-coming Scottish musical talent and established acts.

The midnight event will be headlined by Treacherous Orchestra, whose terrific tunes are renowned for electrifying audiences wherever they play, including European festivals and sold-out shows at Celtic Connections.

Fresh from performing at TRNSMT and the Belladrum Festival, Stephanie Cheape, named as Scotland’s best unsigned act in 2017, will also take to the stage entertain revellers ahead of the bells.

An exciting array of music and entertainment will also be on offer at the family friendly concert earlier in the evening. Gifted young singer Gemma Lamont will get the party atmosphere started in earnest, unleashing a selection of the biggest and best chart anthems with her powerhouse vocals.

For those seeking something less pop-tastic, then look no further than a Glaswegian outfit, Dlu and their energetic offering of alternative and traditional music, which has set them apart from anything in their genre in their home city.

Both events will culminate with incredible fireworks displays, set against the iconic backdrop of Stirling Castle. Amid the explosions and the kaleidoscope of colour at the midnight event, some of Scotland’s best-loved songs referencing coast and waters will ring out to mark the start of Scotland’s celebratory 2020 themed year.

Broadcaster and BBC Scotland Announcer, Jennie Cook, will keep crowds entertained in between all the acts at both events.

Unforgettable offering for families and friends

Convener of Stirling Council’s Community Planning and Regeneration Committee, Cllr Chris Kane said: “I am delighted we can now reveal the details of Stirling’s spectacular Hogmanay celebrations and Christmas Lights Switch On, the main highlights of our jam-packed Winter Festival.

“With a diverse selection of stellar Scottish musical talent and the fireworks displays set against the magnificent backdrop of Stirling Castle, Stirling can boast of an unforgettable offering for families and friends to party into 2020.

“There will also be something for everyone to enjoy throughout our ever popular Winter Festival, with a wide range of music events, Christmas markets, food and drink festivities and plenty of family entertainment. Stirling really will be the perfect place to visit during the festive season.”

The midnight event sold out last year and extra capacity has been added to both events - but with demand expected to be great again, book your tickets now to ensure you don’t miss out on this unforgettable celebration!

Stirling’s Hogmanay is among the highlights of Stirling’s Winter Festival 2019, a jam-packed events programme that includes the spectacular Christmas Lights Switch On.

This fantastic FREE family event will start with the traditional Santa and Reindeer Parade through the city centre.

It will have added star sparkle this year as local singer Alix Muir, who has starred on TV shows such as X-Factor, and family singalong favourites Funbox provides a feast of entertainment. The Big Noise Orchestra, Tolbooth Youth Performers and Stirling High School musicians will also perform to get the festive season off in style.

A fabulous festive feast of events

Vice Convener of the Community Planning and Regeneration Committee, Cllr Maureen Bennison said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our beautiful city during the festive season and to ring in the New Year in spectacular style

“Selling out our midnight Hogmanay celebrations last year highlighted the growing reputation of the event and enhanced Stirling’s strong track record as an events destination. I am sure it will prove hugely popular for residents and visitors once again, with the exciting programme of music and entertainment on offer.

“This year’s Winter Festival is shaping up to be the best yet, with a fabulous festive feast of events and free entertainment that the whole family can enjoy.”
