Scotland is no stranger to bad weather - and the most severe weather can disrupt our lives in all sorts of ways.

By knowing how to prepare and respond you can help to keep yourself, and those around you, safe.

Overview of the services

The Winter Service forms an integral part of the management and maintenance of Stirling Council’s road network. We have a statutory duty to take such steps as it considers reasonable to prevent snow and ice or indeed the consequences of any other weather condition endangering the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians over the Councils public roads.

We cannot clear/treat every road whenever ice or snow accumulations, floods, fallen trees etc. This would be beyond the limit of the resources we have available. We have a plan of action, setting out how we intend to treat ice, snow and flooding.

We are responsible for providing the winter services, on public adopted roads and other identified routes, within the Stirling Council area.
