Money, Debt and Benefit Advice

Starting or returning to student life can be exciting—but managing money, benefits, and bills can be stressful. Stirling Council’s Advice Services may be able to offer assistance or guidance 

What we offer: 

  • Help with benefit checks to make sure you're getting everything you're entitled to—including Universal Credit, Council Tax discounts, and Disability benefits.  
  • Understanding the impact of student finance as well as studying on benefit entitlement 
  • Support with appeals and applications for benefits and grants. 
  • Free, confidential advice on managing debt, budgeting, and dealing with creditors. 

Why it matters: 

Even if you are working part-time, living in halls, or receiving student finance, you might still be eligible for extra support. We can help you understand your rights and options.

Stirling Council’s Digital Inclusion Team can work with you in your own home or at an agreed venue, to support online activity; we offer one to one tailored support to upskill to go online safely. 

What we offer: 

  • Support to set up new providers for your phones, energy, insurance policies to name a few. 
  • Online shopping, travel information, prescription services 
  • Setting up online banking, memberships, applications 
  • Creating accounts for CV’s and job application sites 
  • Creating and safely browsing social media accounts 

Whether you are new to the city or a returning guest, our free digital inclusion service is here to offer support  and build confidence and skill sets for all online presence.
