Minute of Meeting

6 March 2025

Bannockburn Community Centre

Present: I Dawson (Chair), L Watret (Secretary), L Masterson (Treasurer), J Blair and W McEwan

Apologies: T Cattigan, B Miller and Councillor Hambly

Attendance: None

Guests: None

  1. Approval of previous minutes- Minutes proposed by W McEwan and seconded by L Masterson.

 

Linda asked to note that Neil also confirmed at the previous meeting that no houses will be built on the area next to cats craig.

  1. Matters Arising

 

  1. a) Ian to ask if Councillor Hambly has had a chance to visit the vacant house on Station Road.
  2. b) Ian has been asked to raise the annoyance of the residents near the primary school after it was confirmed at the last meeting that the walkway through the school will be closed during school hours. Other BCC members confirmed they are happy with the gate closure during school hours as it helps ensures children’s health and safety.
  3. c) BCC members expressed their disappointment that none of the councillors could attend the meeting.

 

  1. Reports- External a. Police Scotland: i. The report was sent electronically before the meeting.
  2. The report highlighted that there were a total of 30 crimes reported. 18 of those were detected and 12 undetected.

iii. The variety of incidents include fraud, assault, theft and road traffic matters. The frauds include a sextortion and a bogus workman type incident. Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing.

 

 

 

  1. Elected Member:
  2. Councillor Hambly sent his report electronically before the meeting.
  3. Cllr Hambly noted there has been a change in the political make up of Stirling Council as the SNP won the recent by-election in ward 6.

iii. The Council Tax rise was agreed at 8.8% in the recent budget.

  1. Cllr Hambly is arranging a walk around Bannockburn with Cllr Buchanan and Tommy and wishes to extend the invite to any CC members who wish to join.
  2. The new controlled crossing is now working at Bannockburn Primary.

 

 

  1. There is an ongoing discussion with officers who have identified there will be extended 20mph zones in the near future. There will also be a controlled crossing on the A9 in the vicinity of Park Drive.

vii. Officers are being asked to look into concerns being raised at drop off times near Bannockburn and St Mary’s PS.

viii. All 3 ward Councillors intend to meet to identify what assistance can be given to support the recent issues at Bannockburn House. c. Community Development Officer: i. No report received.

 

 

 

  1. Reports- Internal a. Secretary: Copy of all updates received was forwarded to CC members.
  2. Treasurer: Linda highlighted all balances were ok and there was nothing major to report.
  3. Planning: Planning update confirmed and nothing of note for this month.
  4. Bannockburn House: Lucette shared an update on the current situation at Bannockburn House.
