Co-operative working with schools LS discussed how CPS and CoSC work together to provide childcare, a new morning session for working families is starting on 28th October at CPS with COSC managing. There are some funded places, CPS try to identify through data who might need it. Fees charged do not cover costs and grant funding is needed. |

Innes McLeod Depute HT WHS – WHS looking forward to working with CCC, and know that there are a wide range of needs across their catchment and are actively seeking views on how they can better support pupils and parents. IMc, AK and LS discussed transition for P7 pupils, and parents. Parents asking what’s available for pupils. There was a discussion around parents’ evening appointments, booking system, and paper/electronic reports. It was agreed that CCC would look into hosting an evening where parents could come and discuss their needs with WHS staff. Discussion around venue – Community centre if available, but LS offered CPS if necessary. SM to liaise with IMc regarding timing - looking at into November/December. SM and Sc will look into booking Centre. CCC keen to continue working with CPS, CR described CCC’s logo competition. There was further discussion about booking the community centre. KA described the challenges in trying to organise a PTA fundraising event – list of keyholders not available, but 2 caretakers needed to have alcohol in Centre for eg quiz night/prize bingo. Keyholder training had previously been on offer from StC but never happened. SMcG will enquire. CR discussed Mini Binos in context of clubs/activities on offer. Issues with the main hall building (no high ball games) this can be solved, trying to get this done ASAP. AK discussed engagement, small numbers of attendees make it difficult to keep a club running but time and effort numbers can grow. |

Grass cutting, weeds and trees Area between Strathmore Drive and Cornton Road. The chair arranged a meeting between Councillor Rachel Nunn and two residents. RN followed up with enquiries to Stirling Council. Two larch trees have since been confirmed dead and Housing have been advised that they be removed. The ‘wild’ spaces were full of brambles, but were deemed not to be impacting on paths or properties, it was passed to the Land Officer who oversees the grass cutting service to ascertain if some cutting can be done during the pollinator cut. The site is Housing land and SC would not give permission for this to be cut back by residents – this has since been queried by RN. The request was made that the path bordering the read of the property could be strimmed – no response has come back but the area has now been strimmed. It is also noted that the pollinator cuts have also been done now, but the overgrown areas at the bottom of groups of trees have been left uncut and residents are still concerned about the mice etc that are there. SM to query when these areas will be tidied up. SMcA asked who decided on wildlife area, and why this area rather than others. |

Speeding and traffic A CCEnquiry was submitted asking for the prioritisation of the painting of the double yellow lines at Johnston Avenue/Cornton Road; The remarking of lines at all junctions to Johnston Avenue and Strathmore Drive; an opportunity to discuss further options to calm the traffic and make the area safer. StC responses explained that the line painting contractors are behind, and that surveys will be done of the speed, volume and type of traffic in the highlighted areas. Once these were done an onsite meeting could be arranged with CCC to discuss next steps. SM will keep CCC informed of any updates from StC. |

Precinct planters SC have indicated that they are agreeable to us installing the planters, subject to us taking full responsibility for installing them, and future maintenance, as well as them leaving an unobstructed footway of 1.5 metres. |
|
|
Keegan and Pennykid have quoted an annual premium £20 for asset and liability insurance for the planters (and noticeboard). This would be charged pro rata up to the 1st of May when our other policy renews. CR had sought indicative quotes from other open market providers but they want the full policy. Decision was reached to use the K&P quote at the appropriate time. SM to liaise with StC to get full agreement. CR has produced a risk assessment for installation and maintenance of the planters which will be shared with SM. SMcA will organise plants in due course. |
