MINUTE OF MEETING

HELD ON: WEDNESDAY 19TH MARCH 2025 AT 19:00

IN: CIVIL DEFENCE CLUB (HYBRID), CRAIGEND ROAD, ST.NINIANS FK7 9BP

WELCOME

Mike welcomed and thanked everyone for coming along tonight.

  1. DECLARATION OF INTEREST

None noted.

  1. ADOPTION OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTE AND MATTERS ARISING

Minutes of meeting of 16th February 2025 proposed by Mike McCormick and seconded by James

Wigglesworth with an amendment for the Bus Action Group. Buses to run every half hour from April is for

review and not currently implemented.

  1. CO-OPTING

Mike explained the co-opting process, the value of the Community Council and the need for additional

members.

  1. REPORTS/UPDATES

Police Update:

 Police Report – Police operate on three shift system and will not always be available to attend meetings.

Detected cases of 10 ranging from vandalism, communications, theft, offence weapons, threatening and

abusive behaviour, assault, resisting arrest and fraud. 125 calls made to 999 & 101, missing person,

neighbour disputes and noise. Police are aware of the increase in drugs and collecting intelligence.

 Pavement Parking – Parking violations should be reported through Stirling Council’s web page Report

incorrectly parked vehicles | Stirling Council or call 01786 404040.

 Bus Stop Parking – Stirling Council have confirmed the Police are responsible. Police have been

advised by Stephen Bly, Stirling Council.

Elected Member Update:

 Budget – Jen advised the budget has now been set.

 Trotting Track - There are currently no updates from the DPEA and is overdue, Jen to chase up.

Sub Groups:

Chair:

 Mike confirmed committee members are needed, especially a Secretary. Mike is stepping down from

the AGM but will remain in the background along with another resident who deals with the social media.

Secretary:

 We do not have a secretary at present, the items are covered under appropriate headings by other

councillors.

Treasurer:

 James gave update on the spend to date and confirmed the assets (planters/history boards) are insured.

Planning/Development:

 Mike advised there are no planning applications to affect the area.

through the links noted.

  1. COMMUNITY COUNCIL BUSINESS

 Wordie Road Fence –There are many residents who have been acting independently and due to

conflicting information and lack of responsibility by Taylor Wimpey, Hacking and Paterson and Greenbelt

a residents meeting has been scheduled for 7pm, 3rd April 2025 at the Civil Defence Club. This will be

advertised by leaflet drop, on residents social media and the Community Council’s Facebook. Jen to

write to Transport Scotland.

 Wordie Road Anti-Social Behaviour – there is no change from the ongoing anti-social behaviour. Jen

to make enquiries.

 Sunnyside Area: The neighbour issues are ongoing. Mike advised report ongoing anti-social behaviour

to 01786 23333 or email regulatoryservices@stirling.gov.uk or communitysafety@stirling.gov.uk

 Underpasses: None.

 McGrigor Road: Parking is an ongoing issue with work vehicles and speeding.

 Litter Pick – A litter pick has been organised at the Mayfield Centre Car Park on 10th May 2025 at 12

noon, volunteers welcome. Julia can organise litter pick by Borestone Primary School. Resident advised

Keep Scotland Beautiful may provide additional equipment. It was raised that there is a severe lack of

bins in the area with many being removed or vandalised.

  1. AOCB

 Report It Function: please continue to use this in the first instance, to obtain a reference number for all

local concerns. Full details are held through the Report It - which is on the Stirling Council Website

 Christmas Lights – Six lamp posts at the Thistle Park have been earmarked for the first phase, Stirling

Council to confirm if this is viable. Funding is required with a view to Christmas 2025, if not then 2026.

  1. RESIDENTS FORUM / QUESTIONS FROM THE FLOOR

 Mayfield Street – wall at steps to Burghmuir Road has been knocked down, Stirling Council has

cordoned off but not fixed. Mike to follow up with Stephen Bly.

 Bus Action Group – No updates and next meeting due May 2025.

 Litter Pick – confirmation of locations required for Borestone Primary School to be discussed between

Julia and James.

 Therapy Massage – certified resident can offer this service in community and requires funding/locations.

Hillview Community Centre.

 Mayfield Shopping Precinct – resident has raised concerns there is no wheelchair access to any of the

shop and the hairdressers must physically lift their customers.
