Our British Sign Language (BSL) Plan 2024-30 updates our previous plan for 2018-23, and explains the actions we're taking to continue to:
- support BSL users in the council area
- ensure BSL users have equal access to our services
In our plan, 'BSL user' means anyone whose first or preferred language is BSL. This includes deaf people and deafblind people who use a tactile form of the language.
How we developed our plan
We developed our plan to support the delivery of the Scotland Government's second national BSL Plan. This is known as the British Sign Language (BSL): National Plan 2023-29.
During our plan's development, we had input from:
- people who use BSL
- people and organisations that support BSL users
- teams within the Council
- partner organisations
