Why does the Council process personal data?

The Energy and Fuel Poverty Adviser helps Council tenants make the best use of their heating system. The Energy and Fuel Poverty Adviser also provides a range of support and where appropriate, and with the tenant’s
consent, will use information provide to apply for additional support the tenant may be entitled to.

What personal data is used?

Name, address, financial details energy suppliers and account information.
Health information may also be provided in relation to support requirements.

What makes it lawful for the Council to process this personal data?

UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes.

UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a) the data subject has given explicit consent to the processing of those personal data for one or more specified purposes

By completing the Tenant Engagement Fuel Surveyform the tenant will have given their consent for us to use personal data to investigate their entitlement to
additional support.

Where does the Council obtain personal data from?

Where does the Council keep personal data?

Electronic records are kept in a password protected folder on the housing directory. Paper records are kept within a secure cabinet.

How long does the Council keep personal data?

Supporting paperwork in relation to the survey form will be destroyed once support is established to assist with fuel bills/payments.
All other personal data will be held for the duration of the tenancy.

Who does the Council share personal data with

Service providers for fuel poverty and energy related home improvements and advice, other council services.
