Gerry McGarvey has worked throughout the UK, US, Africa and Ireland in Personal and Community Development for the majority of his professional career.

As a trained counsellor with over 30 years’ experience in Personal Development in various settings, Gerry has used these skills and a number of other therapeutic interventions as a practitioner with various geographical and identity communities, but mainly focused on working with young people in a number of Third Sector agencies, as well as working as part of the Learning and Development team for a national children’s charity based in Stirling.

He has created, provided and delivered training programmes in organisational development for a number of national and regional voluntary sector organisations and, more recently worked in publishing as an editor, writer and researcher before being elected to Stirling Council in May 2022.

He is currently on the board of directors for the community owned pub, the Black Bull in Gartmore.
