The advice line will be staffed by the local authority’s Educational Psychology Service, the Parent and Family Support Team and Youth Services

You can contact them in three ways:

  • Telephone - 01786 404040, Option 5 (Monday-Friday from 10am-12.30pm and from 1.30pm-4pm)
  • Email (edu-wbgadvice@stirling.gov.uk)
  • Contact Form (please ensure you leave your preferred contact details - i.e. telephone number or email address).

These contact options and more details are available on a dedicated page on the Stirling Council website. Staff will aim to respond to queries within one hour.

Information, advice and practical guidance on a range of subjects for parents/carers and children and young people can also be accessed via the Stirling Educational Psychology Blog. These include: looking after well-being, talking to a child about Coronavirus (COVID-19), activities for learning at home and links to websites that can provide additional information.

This online resource will continue to develop, and work is also underway on an information and advice service for Council staff and adults during the current situation. We will publish details on this as soon as possible.

Support measures for families

Convener of the Children and Young People, Cllr Susan McGill said: “During such an unprecedented national emergency it is understandable that children and young people may be feeling anxious or uncertain

“It was crucial we quickly put in place support measures for families such as the advice line and other digital resources, and we will continue to develop these over time.”

Challenging times for everyone

Vice Convener of the Committee said, Cllr Christine Simpson said: “These are challenging times for everyone, but particularly the younger generation with school closures, disruption to learning and exams and social distancing restrictions.

“This advice line will be operated by trained staff who will be able to offer families support in the best way possible.”
