The researcher and author was presented with the honour last night at the annual Stirling Business Awards run by Go Forth Stirling BID.

Dr Cook was among a host of award winners revealed during a black-tie ceremony at the city’s Albert Halls.

The awards were organised by the BID (Business Improvement District) to recognise and reward the city’s independent business owners, tourist attractions and charities with the winners chosen following a selection process which saw more than 26,000 public votes cast.

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Gerry McGarvey, said: “We’re delighted that Murray’s boundless enthusiasm and his love of Stirling, its history and heritage has been recognised at the 2025 Business Awards.

“Murray is a huge asset to Stirling and our communities and he willingly shares his joy and passion for archaeology with so many others.

“Congratulations to him – and to all other winners and nominees across the range of categories. The Stirling Business Awards go from strength to strength and the Go Forth Stirling BID team really showcase the very best the area has to offer in terms of our thriving independent businesses, charities and tourist attractions.”
