Anglers are now able to purchase permits to fish with the 2024 fishing season underway.

Throughout the arrangement, fishing permits and fisheries maintenance will be overseen by the external partner. This will enable exploration of a long term solution with the local angling community to allow the fisheries service to continue.

This follows a decision taken at the budget setting meeting in March 2023 to pursue an alternative delivery model to council fisheries management and operations.

Environment, Transport and Net Zero convener, Cllr Jen Preston said: “We’re pleased that this arrangement will enable anglers to continue to enjoy fishing in the picturesque settings offered by the Forth and Teith.

“Efforts remain ongoing to establish the long-term sustainability of Stirling’s fisheries at a time where we are faced with making difficult financial decisions and I am hopeful that a solution can be found as soon as possible.”

Fishing permits can be purchased through the Fishing Around the Forth website with 2024 season permits are priced at £230 for adults and £180 for concessions with day passes also available.
